NONDISCRIMINATION STATEMENT:

The Mariposa County Unified School District is committed to providing a safe school environment where all individuals in education are afforded equal access and opportunities. The District’s academic and other educational support programs, services and activities shall be free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying of any individual based on the person’s actual race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression; the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. Specifically, state law prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in enrollment, counseling, and the availability of physical education, athletic activities, and sports. Transgender students shall be permitted to participate in gender-segregated school programs and activities (e.g., athletic teams, sports competitions, and field trips) and to use facilities consistent with their gender identity. Such complaints must be filed no later than six months after knowledge of the alleged discrimination was first obtained. For a complaint form or additional information, contact the Director of Human Resources & Student Services (Discrimination/Equity and Title IX Coordinator) at (209) 742-0250. The address is: P.O. Dear Parents of English Learners:

Mariposa County Unified School District would like to cordially invite you to attend our first English Learner Advisory Committee meeting for the 2017-18 school year on Wednesday, November 8th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM in the El Portal School computer lab.

California law requires that parents / guardians of English Language Learners be included in an advisory committee specifically dealing with the district's English Language Development program and other ELL issues.  Being informed and involved in your children's education is a great way to help our district continue to provide the best learning environment and academic experience for them. As parents of English Language Learners, you are in the unique position of best understanding the challenges and needs of ELLs and their families within our district. MCUSD encourages your input and participation in this very important committee meant to ensure the optimal educational program for ELs and a working partnership with their families.  Whether you join our district's English Learner Advisory Committee or just attend the meetings to make sure your voice and input are heard and considered, we urge you to attend and participate.
